What Is A Laser?
Laser is an acronym for Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Unlike normal light, a laser is made up of one colour, the rays of light are parallel and the rays travel in step with each other. These properties make laser light very powerful.
What Is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser Hair Removal is an advanced technology that Dr. Krishi Mandaliya has acquired for her clients at NVYA Aesthetics in Vadodara.
It involves the use of short pulsating beams of laser which target the hair follicle. The lasers inhibit the growth of the follicles thus giving long-lasting results.
Laser Hair removal can be used on multiple parts of the body like the abdomen, back, chest, hands, legs, underarms and even the pubic region.
It is a safe and painless way to get rid of unwanted body hair.
What Makes Laser Hair Removal A Popular Choice?
A hairy body is considered as unstyled, ungroomed and even primitive by today’s societal standards. Add to that the coarseness and length of body hair and it becomes a recipe for shabbiness.
Body hair also hampers the freedom of selection of clothes as individuals tend to shy away from shorts and sleeveless clothes.
There are a number of options available today for hair removal like shaving, hair removal creams, epilators, waxing, threading, so on and so forth.
However, these treatments are either extremely painful or come laden with harsh chemicals that might negatively affect the skin. Also, they are time-consuming, regularly pinch your pocket and drain your bank balance.
Laser hair removal comes with enticing benefits that include:
- Minimal downtime
- Long-lasting results
- Saves time as visits to the salons totally stop!
Are Multiple Sessions Of Laser Hair Removal Necessary?
In many cases multiple sessions of Laser Hair Removal are necessary. To explain the logic behind it, Dr. Krishi Mandaliya opens up about the hair growth cycle of the human body. The hair growth is divided into three phases of a cycle.
The Anagen phase or the growth phase: In this phase, the hair is undergoing active growth and the melanin content is at its peak. The laser will be very effective on hairs in this phase.
The Catagen phase or the phase of regression: In this phase, the hair is shrinking and melanin content is regressing. The hair is less likely to be affected by the laser when it is in this phase.
The Telogen phase or resting phase: The hair follicle, as the name suggests is not growing and is resting in this phase. The hair will soon fall and new hair cycle will start from the follicular cell with the new hair coming in anagen phase again. The follicle can not be targeted in this phase by the laser.
At any given time, some hair is in the anagen phase, some in the catagen phase and others in the telogen phase. Thus hair which is in the anagen phase will only be affected. The remaining hair will not be affected by the laser. They will be taken care of in the next sitting when they reach the anagen phase. This is why multiple sessions may be necessary.

What To Expect Before Laser Hair Removal?
Submit your medical history details to NVYA Aesthetics in advance. If you have any allergies please notify Dr. Krishi Mandaliya before the procedure.
Another step that may be taken at NVYA Aesthetics, Vadodara before the procedure is the patch test. A patch test would be done only if you are concerned or Dr. Krishi Mandaliya thinks your skin is likely to be very sensitive to the laser. This patch test ensures that NVYA Aesthetics, Vadodara sets the right settings for your skin and hair type.
You may be prescribed certain skin lightening creams a few weeks before the procedure. During this period, it is also necessary to keep away from direct sunlight as it might result in skin tanning.
Shaving the body hair is encouraged as it does not directly target the hair follicles but rather minimizes the surface burns. Waxing or plucking is not allowed as it removes the hair follicle which is the target for the laser beams.
Also, Dr. Krishi Mandaliya will click a few pictures to analyze the difference in the result after the process is complete.
How Is Laser Hair Removal Procedure Done At NVYA Aesthetics?
Laser Hair Removal makes use of short pulsating beams of light. The light of the laser is aimed by Dr. Krishi Mandaliya at the hair root just for a fraction of a second.
The light is converted into heat by the melanin and this literally cooks the hair follicle destroying its ability to regrow.
Laser hair removal needs to be done in sessions in order for the results to be clearly visible as explained by Dr. Krishi Mandaliya earlier.
What To Expect After The Laser Hair Removal Procedure?
Once the treatment is complete, the area exposed to the laser is cleansed and you are free to return to your normal routine. Some people may experience a slight reddening around hair follicles following the treatment, which typically disappears within a few minutes.
Dr. Krishi Mandaliya always recommends avoiding sun exposure. It is advisable to use sunscreen for 2 days following the laser treatment.
Also, post-laser treatment, you will experience a hair growth right from the 2-3rd day and unlike waxing the skin will not feel smooth. This is because the hair follicles affected by the laser are lifeless and the body will attempt to cast them off over a period of time.
It will seem that the hair continues to grow for one week after the procedure, but in fact, this lifeless hair will easily fall out. Hence this is not actually hair growth but “fall out”.
